Jennifer Chan, “Why Are There No Great Women Net Artists” and other essays on Pool (via Rhizome)

A peer-edited criticism blog run by Karen Archey, a New York-based independent curator and contributor to Art in America, MAP, and Art Agenda. Recent essays include contributions from Lauren Christiansen & Brad Troemel of JOGGING. The compelling thing about bien-pensant, content aside, is its open submission and comments policy. Also, so glad to see Archey’s big brain back online again.

I HEART PHOTOGRAPH
Lots of love for I <3 Photograph. Fantastic resource for emerging photography.
POST INTERNET
Gene McHugh’s excellent, no-frills blog on internet culture, virtual performance, and so forth. Essential reading for those as confounded by Gen .net as I am.
AFTERALL
Quite possibly my favorite arts publication (since the demise/descent into fiscal impropriety of Contemporary). It’s a little hard to find around Baltimore way (it’s intermittently carried at the bookstore up the street), but it’s always a cover to cover read. Consistently excellent content, and its website is a great resource, too.
*congrats to the lovely Stephanie Barber for Afterall’s coverage of her upcoming screening this Saturday at Anthology Film.
CURATING SUBJECTS
Apparently, if I wanted to, I could try to sell my greasy, fingerprint-covered, dogeared copy of this for AT LEAST $218.85 on Amazon.
PHILOSOPHIES OF ART & BEAUTY
Just found out THIS BOOK is the reason I’ve never seen my college diploma or transcripts after 5 years. DID I ACTUALLY GRADUATE?*
*yes
