Hello all 10,668+ of you,

I have a special project that I’m working on here in New York with an organization dear to my heart and intellectual interests, Dirty Looks (www.dirtylooksnyc.com).

In the month of July, Dirty Looks is undertaking a massive public program, engaging historic and current sites of queer sociality—cruising zones, bath houses, dance clubs, sites of social resistance, etc. etc. On each night in July, the curators collaborating with Dirty Looks (including yours truly) will present a film or video work at a particular space—a work that is specific to Dirty Looks’s mission of supporting and exhibiting experimental LGBT works.

So we’ve got this Kickstarter that I’d like to promote here on thee old Tumblr. We need help getting this massive and important project off the ground—meaning funds to acquire equipment to make these interventions possible, rental fees from places that distribute artist videos, paying participating artists and curators. It’s imperative that we get the help from the public—we cannot fund this project alone. Aside from exhibiting many underseen works from the queer moving image canon, this project also serves to create a cartography of sites of importance in queer history. This is a big deal, folks!

So if each of you that read this poorly neglected tumblr pledge a dollar to this Kickstarter, we will reach our goal. If you wanna pledge more GO NUTS. If you reblog and circulate, that’s awesome too. There are fantastic prizes at a number of giving levels. I am not one for shilling, but this is an important project that I’m thrilled to throw my weight and brain power behind.
